There is scarcely anything as sweet as a newborn baby goat trotting through a spring pasture, or the feeling of accomplishment as you bring a pail full of creamy, warm milk back from the barn. The idyllic scene of a small herd of happy goats on a sunny day will always be one of my favorite.
Soon after embarking on the adventure of our first laying hens, we got into goats. And even sooner, I fell head over heals in love with them. Years later, I very truthfully can not imagine living without them!
Each goat on our farm has their own special personality, sweet face, and beautiful spirit. And each one is loved to bits, by us and every one who crosses paths with them! Today, I want to introduce you to them. Be aware, after seeing these pictures, don't be surprised if a goat soon shows up in your backyard! They can't help but steal your heart!
Why do we raise goats?
Besides our love for their hilarious personalities, we raise our small herd of goats for milk. All breeding stock you will see below are ADGA registered, Nigerian dwarf dairy goats. We are constantly working on improving our own herd, and breeding goats to make the most delicious milk.
Now, without further adieu....
Our Does:
Nutmeg
Nutmeg is the goat that started it all. We brought this sweet Nigerian Dwarf girl home when she was just 12 weeks old, and instantly she stole our heart. But don't be fooled, she is not all cuddles and sweetness! Bouncing off the walls, she can talk the rest of the herd into helping her get into all the trouble possible. But one thing is true, her sweet, outgoing and zesty personality steals everyones heart!
Connie
My Connie is such a sweet girl. Though she takes a while to warm up to people she doesn't know, as soon as she does, she will follow you around like a puppy. Her gentle spirit makes her my best mama, the best milker, and the sweetest friend.
Rejoice
Though this precious girls life was cut painfully short by a tragic accident, she will forever live in our hearts. There could not be a better name to fit our little Doeling - Rejoice just about sums her up. Her life was forever marked by a gentle, yet powerful spirit of praise and happiness.
Our Bucks:
Malachi
This little guy is a warrior! Though he got his soft eyes from his mother, Connie, he definitely did not inherit her timid nature! Our Malachi would take on the world if he could, and he surely is king of the farm. But nonetheless, he has a heart of gold. The future of our breeding stock, we are so excited to see the kids he throws!
TumTum
TumTum can not help but make everyone who crosses paths with him laugh! His funny faces, strong opinions and teddy-bear-personality brings such a joy to our days. He does his job of being a companion wether very well, and happily munches on anything he can get his mouth on every day.
Though our sweet herd is quite small at the moment, we are always expanding! We also have ADGA registered Nigerian Dwarf bucklings and doelings available all year round.
